Welcome to the World of Green Politics
The purpose of this section is to illuminate some of the major issues surrounding renewable energy in global politics, and all of the key elements that are affecting how global warming is being viewed around the world.
Quite frankly, it's impossible to turn on the TV without being bulldozed by the environment. But reducing greenhouse emissions, and coming up with new technology to increase the availability of renewable energy needs assistance from federal and state legislation.
- Up to 30 percent of the Earth's species could face complete extinction due to global temperature increase.
- A 50 percent increase in carbon emissions over the next 40 years due to an increase in oil consumption
These are just two of the main reasons why scientists are anxious to adopt global standards now, rather than continue with the slow-moving changes that the Kyoto Protocol and United Nations established in the late 90s. The reductions in emissions resulting from the Kyoto Protocol just aren't ambitious enough. Scientists are crying for help, and these are the reasons why politics are so important to curbing the effects of climate change. Companies can't do it on their own without a global standard for renewable energy.
