Keys to Affecting Global Warming Policy
You've learned the basics regarding renewable energy policy, but there are a few methods by which you can also have your voice heard among all of those talking heads in Washington.
- Maybe not a direct line to affecting change in your state's policies, but the U.S. Department of Energy does have links to research and contact state legislature for additional information. At least then you know what's coming, and whether to utilize the second option to contact and petition your state representatives.
- Why not send an e-mail to Congress? Your friends at Environmental Defense have set up an online petition form so that you can take action, rather than just read about renewable energy.
- Start a grassroots effort on your own. Gather members of the local community and take it upon yourselves to initiate additional recycling programs, renewable education for local residents, and events to raise awareness of the importance of going green. Simply spreading the word about renewable energy will create a bigger buzz on its own, and you'll find that a majority of people are unaware that they can purchase renewable energy, renewable energy credits and other green products.
